Toonstruck 2 can be released!

As you probably remember, Toonstruck was cut in two parts before the release, and part 2 has never been released. Well, now it probably will be!

Keith Arem, a member of Toonstruck team who now owns the rights to it, is considering the re-release of Toonstruck which would include Toonstruck 2, but he needs "tremendous fan support" to justify its release and raise the capital. There's a fan petition which has already reached the point of 2000 signatures.

A quote from Mr. Arem (you can read his letter here):

While the game was internationally critically acclaimed, the game did
not receive the sales we hoped, and the second half was never released.
Now that my career has developed, I would like to re-release an updated
version of Toonstruck to include the 2nd half of the game (iPad, online,
etc), but I would need tremendous fan support to justify its release. I
am looking for someone to help organize a fan petition to help us raise
the capital to finance the game, so if you know anyone who could help
with this, I would appreciate the assistance.

Nice! And not so nice at all!
Don´t missunderstand me.
I LOVED Toonstruck and i would like to see Toonstruck 2 to come true.
But the petition reached ~3000 in 3 months so far.
If it goes on like this it reaches 50000 in what, 47 months from now on?
Ever?

I´m no naysayer at all but I don´t think TS2 will ever happen.

Two years ago I could have sworn there will never be another Monkey Isalnd.
And now we're have 2 remakes and 1 completly new game.

I even think Cristopher Lloyd could return to Toonstruck. He's working for TallTale on BttF and he isn't too busy in movies now, so why not?

Yeah, we should do everything we can to achieve this goal. I really understand the pessimists, but being pessimistic has never led to good results. By the way, some more updates: another letter from Arem, mini-interview with him, and a Livejournal community.

A major update! Keith Arem made this announcement on the Facebook page:

Hey All -

Thanks for your support and dedication. We sincerely appreciate your devotion to our project, and we hope to do you proud. It may be some time before you start to hear official announcements, but we are hoping your support helps raise awareness and confidence for an updated re-release of Toonstruck.

As you are… aware, much of the game was never released due to time and budget constraints. We are evaluating the cost and time to incorporate these assets into the initial re-release. In the coming months, I will do my best to get you behind the scenes peeks into the development process.

Meaning, there will be a re-release in which might be the "new" content?

Sounds... vague, but my hopes are awakened.

Not simply new content like BS Director's cut, but a whole second part that takes place after TS1 ending (when Drew is turned into a toon). Drew will travel to the island in the sky and meet some characters from his subconscious: his idol Van Gogh, a crazy dentist (he's afraid of dentists), etc., find his creative power (represented by a giant lighthouse) and use it to defeat Nefarious and Fluffy. Guess it will be reminiscent of Psychonauts.

Actually, it depends on the number of signatures (so it would be the best for TS fans to sign it), but Mr. Arem's new statement leads to conclusion that it will be released.

In fact, it's not abandoned, but we're still waiting for updates from Keith Arem.

'We're currently working on an enhanced re-release of TS1, but we may add some of the TS2 content if we can afford to do it. We'll likely re-build our fanbase, and then move onto TS2 next.
